Our History

Office Products, Inc. (OPI) was founded in 1974 by Bud Simmers. Bud’s background was in typewriters at the time and OPI initially began as a typewriter dealership, to include the wholesaling of used and remanufactured typewriters.  Bud quickly grew and expanded the business to include a Steelcase dealership in conjunction with the equipment business.  After 5+ years of operating the Steelcase dealership, an opportunity with used office furniture came to light and the future for OPI was cast.

 At the outset, OPI’s focus was on providing cost-effective, efficient decommission (removal) of commercial office furniture from locations nationwide. The decommissioned furniture was wholesaled to used office furniture dealers nationwide. As the liquidation volume increased and demand for used office furniture expanded, OPI added other channels for repurposing furniture including a retail store location along with remanufacturing of panel systems.

OPI quickly grew to become one of the Nation’s largest office furniture liquidation companies, retailers and remanufacturers of office furniture.  OPI was now a full-service office furniture business offering New, Used and Remanufactured office furniture at value prices.
